Two dead in earthquake zt

TWO people have been killed by a strong earthquake that has struck Greece.
Greece’s interior minister Prokopis Pavlopoulos confirmed two people have died and at least 37 people were injured in the earthquake.
One of the people was killed by a falling roof in Kato Ahaia.
The injuries have occured in the province of Ahaia and one on the island of Lefkada, where a person was struck by falling rocks on a beach.
Trapped
Dozens of people are believed to be trapped beneath collapsed houses.
Authorities said the earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.5 struck southwestern Greece.
Seismologists warned that many aftershocks were expected, and asked people to remain calm.
"There have been aftershocks and more will follow because the epicentre was close to the surface," said Gerasimos Papadopoulos, head of the Athens Geodynamic Institute’s research centre.
"Local authorities must carry out checks to see which buildings present problems."
The Geodynamic Institute said the quake struck at 3.25pm local time with an epicentre on land, 205 kilometres west of Athens, in the northwestern Peloponnese near the port city of Patras.
The fire department said rescue crews were working to free a family of five people trapped beneath a collapsed house in the village of Fostaina, about 30 kilometres south of Patras.
They had also sent rescue crews to another collapsed house in the village of Vartholomio where people were believed to be trapped.
It is reported parts of Patras were without electricity, while collapsed and damaged houses were reported from several areas of southwestern Greece.
Greece is one of the world’s most earthquake-prone countries.
Don't worry, be happy!!!
